Realtors’ Lack of Technology Skills Drives Me Crazy !! ;->

I wish I had a dollar for every time a Realtor sends me an email for a new listing with a multi-megabyte attachment of the flyer.  I’m telling you…3, 4, even 5 MB of useless stuff in powerpoint, word, even publisher format.  Don’t Realtors understand the power of technology standards and at a minimum that they should only be sending pdf documents and that I don’t need to see the high resolution 30-inch picture of the back of the house?

Moreover, don’t Realtors have any respect for my inbox and that even with high-speed internet it is crazy to be sending such huge, useless, files.  I digress, but if you want a Realtor to work for you who understands technology and how to use it - and how not to un-necessarily annoy people with it, then please call me.

Persistance Pays Off

Please let me know what you think of this.

Everyday, I call people whose homes have expired from the market without selling.  I do this because I think that they could use my help.

If I don’t reach the people on the phone, I call them back.  And I call them back.  And I call them back.  Basically, I keep calling them until they relist their house or die.

In the last ten days, I’ve had two expired sellers thank me for my persistance.

One lady told me that I’d called her so many times that she felt badly for not calling me back.  Another man to me that he appreciated my persistance because he was in sales, too, and understood what it took to be successful.

Some people, on the other hand, (who probably aren’t in sales) are disturbed by my persistance.  People sometimes are rude, yell at me and/or hang up in my face.  I can’t help those people.

I think persistance is a quality that you want in your realtor.  What do you think?

The Essence of Being a Realtor in 2008

Being a realtor in this day in age is not so much about providing your clients with information…they have that or can get that on there own probably on the Internet.  The value, one of many, that a realtor provides today is analyzing, interpreting and communicating the meaning of all the data.  Realtors should be analysts not statisticians.
